Mare breeding and boarding information
All mares must be in good health, and breeding condition, neg. coggins, current on vaccinations, deworming and hoof care. All must have negative culture before breeding. Can be done by a vet here or you can have your vet do it. Paperwork required to show test results. Any special care issues must be discussed in advance and may be extra charge for additional requirments. Barren aged mares are recommended to be given reproductive exam by an experience reproductive horse vet and have palpation, sonogram, culture and biopsy before breeding. There are no guarantees on aged barren mares who have not undergone these test for breeding soundness. All mares must be halter broke and tie, cannot have shoes on the hind feet by breeding or they will be pulled at the owners expense or may delay breeding because of the wait on a shoer. We do live cover only and hand breeding supervised to protect both mare and stallion. We guarantee our stallions fertile but if the mare has infection or fertility problem the stallion cannot be held responsible. We intend to get every mare in foal and mare owners need to be aware of other conditions that could effect breeding other than stallion fertility. WE have 100% conception so far on our farm due to stringent breeding methods and protocol. Best chance is young healthy mares who are not under stress and in breeding shape and checked clean on culture..would be a sure thing FYI(without considering hormonal problems). Mare/horse boarding All hay and feed provided in this price. Vet charges for reproduction or other will be paid by mare owner in addition to stud fee and booking charge. Ask for contract and care sheet before arrival must be read and agreed on before arrival.

TRAINING
At this time I am working with Bobby and Monica Shaffer for training at their Shaffer training facility located conveniently to our farm... They have limited training spots available and have training horses going at all times. They are a great team and work really well with the horses, both have a good hand with the horses no gimmicks, all hard work and hands on and hours of handling, hours and hours of riding using common sense training methods that are very effective and get great results. SEE BOBBY training here. They do all around breaking, starting, finishing, roping, team penning, trail riding, shoeing and some barrel racing training also, working with another Co-trainer there. They have limited space, paddock board only. We do however offer full care board here if required for an addional fee for large stalls, shavings, etc. Training is recommended 45-60 days minimum for satisfactory results, be prepared to go the right way, as you will be satisifed with extended training, which will be retained and instilled more than short sessions of training which will be lost easier with little practice. Each horse progresses at the level of its ability and acceptance. Be prepared to continue riding when your horse returns home, this is very important to keep the riding going for best results and for long term satisfaction as horses can loose what they gain in a short time if you do not continue the riding. Call for details and availability. Read about requirements next.
FEES
$350.00 per month basic to start
additional fees
$40.00 shoes mandatory once the horse is riding out on trails
$20.00 trims as needed to start
$ sedative only if needed for initial shoeing per shot, ask for quote.
$150.00 ad for full care stall board(not mandatory, opptional, feed prices force feed charges to escalate)
pasture board will have a feed charge added, minimal and quotes on request, may fluctuate per animals needs.
TRAINING HORSE REQUIREMENTS
Basic requirements include that each animal must be in satisfactory condition, good health up to date on vaccinations, coggins, deworming and hoof care. Ground manners help on advanced training, to optimize your money and best interest for success, you must prepare your horse mentally and physically to go to the trainer so they can have a step up, and not cause delays. We can take from the ground up but this is very time consuming and costly, it can be paid for and will be a set back on your horses progress under saddle until this is accomplished, as manners come first on the ground, the foundation of training, before riding.
Aso, I am looking for a protoge student who would be interested in part time work, a few hours a day, in exchange for training lessons, riding lessons, farm management instructions, breeding instructions, foal and young horse handling, up to breaking and starting, preparation and conditioning for shows and equine nutrition and general horse husbandry and maintenance. This instruction would include hands on every day, involving some labor, and horse handling daily, schedule negotiable(no pay on this, you are getting free instructions in exchange for light farm work). Must be mature and dependable to qualify and must have some previous experience, have your own vehicle, and be local to travel here. Possibility to trade partial labor for purchases, or breeding to our stallion.
We do give instructions to students who may want to pay for lessons in an apprenticeship program, straight out, on all of the above. To start from the beginning if you have the desire, you can do this, and once you are qualified move up to protoge status. And when you are accomplished, you can train for services out of our farm or elsewhere if you like, working for yourself. Some separate labor may apply to partial sale foal purchases if desired, to be negotiated. WE are a limited board facility allowing for some training horses, no boarders only, No alcohol or drugs will be allowed for any reason on our property. Call for details. ALL OUTSIDE HORSES WILL BE TRAINED WITH BOBBY AND MONICA.
Training methods
My training is based on what I have learned over the years, 35 years, from working for other farms, trainers and taking lessons, showing in hand and undersaddle, carriage driving, jumping, dressage, saddle seat riding, western pleasure, english pleasure, pleasure riding, trail riding, TB rehabilitation, cutting, conditioning for show/sales, personal experiences, seminars, training manuals, books, magazines, training videos, training shows, observations, conversations and natural inclination to listen to others and my horses to determine the process and steps and also the willingness to keep learning and to be flexible. Mostly what I apply is what works in that given situation, as every horse is different and takes some horse reading/feel to adjust the method to be successful in each animal. Bringing consistent, regular instructions to each individual, with persistence, firmness and reward, and building on that as they progress. This developes a strong working relationship that involves trust and giving which brings emotional security to the animal and the desire to please. The foundation is good for life, but finishing takes years, and regular training. I feel confident that working with Bobbie and Monica will bring a great value as we will be working as a team, on our horses and also bringing them horses from my clients also. We hope to be able to provide a much needed service of horse training to the local community and regional so that horses can move on to shows or performance events and be valuable assets to there owners. And that we will be able to provide trained farm horses in the near future for those clients who prefer to have them trained ahead of time. AT THIS TIME I AM ONLY TRAINING OUR OWN HORSES.
